An employee who can freely move from task to task helps to reduce gaps in production.
For example: You’re working on a construction site and operating one type of equipment. Someone who was working with different equipment on the project quits abruptly. You step in to fill the gap because you have the know-how that’s needed to properly operate that piece of equipment. The direct result is that the project keeps moving forward and no time is lost. An employer notices this kind of flexibility.
The old saying of “toot your own horn” is the best way to get yourself noticed by your employer. You may find that it’s a bit off-putting to talk about yourself all the time, but it doesn’t have to be.
Start by getting to know the people you work with at all possible levels and converse with them regularly.
